Books.

We have had several new members join recently one of them Peter Fox, saw one of the cards Mike Perkins has put in dealers stock boxes. Peter phoned me and we had a long conversation, and it turns out that Peter collects Crystal Palace medals. He happened to mention that a friend of his Les Allen had written a book on Crystal Palace medals, and gave me his phone number.

I rang Les for details of his book and he has written what must be the definitive work on Crystal Palace and related exhibition medals. 276 pages hard back with over 800 illustrations. Although this is advertised at 29.50 Les offered me a copy for 25.00 post free which I have now got. He is also very generously making the same offer to any of our members who would like a copy. The surprising thing is that firstly I had never heard of the book, because I usually get to hear of any exhibition related books that are published, and secondly Les had never heard of the Exhibition Study Group. He is into the coin and medal world and didn’t know that outside that area there is a very strong society interested in collecting all exhibition memorabilia.
