The
entry for Elsecar is a correction sent in by Leslie
L. Allen and would have appeared incorrectly under Rotherham. While I have been
able to not include it under Rotherham I had forgotten at the time to alter and
include it in the E section.
Leslie
writes, By Courtesy of Peter Fox, we are able to confirm from the Exhibition
Catalogue that the exhibition was held in the Market Hall at Elsecar on the Wentworth Estate, in aid of the neighbouring
Hospitals and Infirmaries, and not at Rotherham. There were 80 classes from the
“Best Brass Band” to the “Best 12 brown eggs”.
