On the edge of the Borough of Hammersmith, was Olympia, a large exhibition and entertainment centre, which opened on Boxing Day, 1886, with the Paris Hippodrome Circus. In the 1890's spectacles of Venice, Constantinople, and the Orient were staged here by Imre Kiralfy. In 1904 C. B. Cochran took over the reins at Olympia and staged the Motor Show there for the first time in 1905.
